Toddler Tearaway

G Man is off to Liverpool & Manchester for business and this is the second time in a fortnight. I don’t overly mind. It means I don’t need to tidy away my stuff and I can please myself for dinner but it’s Buddy who is pushing my buttons right now.

I think it must be an age thing, he’ll be three next month & he is just getting all of his terrible twos in to make sure I can tick that box! I try so hard not to rise to it. But with the following antics this evening I’m surprised I haven’t cried yet:

1. On leaving nursery he asked to climb over from Bubble’s side of the car. Ok. Now he was taking ages and I wanted to get home as I’d promised we could make Fireman Sam cakes, so I asked him to hurry up, so he climbed in the parcel shelf. I can’t get him off there, so I decided to open the boot. He climbed down and by the time I had walked round to door, he was back on it! Argh. I managed after 20 mins to get him, meanwhile I’m getting looks from the other mothers, not sure if they were ‘I feel your pain’ or ‘OMG, you can’t control your kid!’ eventually I got him out of the car and gave him a talking to, he got in, we strapped him in then we came home.
2. He keeps moaning to get attention, and not talking, so it’s hard to communicate with him
3. I made his dinner & we decided not to make cakes as he was too tired although he keeps saying he’s not!
4. At dinner he was messing around, jumping down from table running around, then refusing to get back up, so he went on the naughty step 4 times. He only get’s a small amount of food, maybe 10 mouthfuls, so 4 times on naughty step is a lot, then he kept pushing and I was counting to 3 and he climbed under the table and refused to come out so he was sent to his room. I only left him the 5 minutes but it was enough for both of us to calm down.

Phew! Now he is ready for bed, eaten his dinner, face washed and drinking his milk having cuddles. He said ‘I love you mummy!’ brilliant so all is forgiven for it all to start again tomorrow 😉 at least I’ll get a lie in, he says he wants to stay in bed til 1030am. I won’t hold my breath though!
